At Kimbrose Club, our members love variety – doing different things and meeting different people. So we were delighted that some National Citizen Service students came along to spend the day with us.
The NCS scheme is open to all 16 and 17 year-olds in England. It helps young people build skills for work and life, giving encouragement to take on new challenges and meet new friends. NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.
It was wonderful for our members to interact with the young people, and there was much talk and laughter.
Their visit coincided with Cupcake Day, run each year by the Alzheimer’s Society to raise funds and awareness of dementia, so while some of the students chatted away with our members, others enjoyed making and decorating cupcakes.
