Our places, our people, our purpose

At Gloucester Charities Trust, everything begins and ends with people.

For more than five centuries, in several guises the Trust has existed and evolved to support the people of Gloucester, adapting as times change but always holding the same simple aim. To offer security, dignity, community and care to those who need it most, particularly later in life.

Creating places that feel like home

Today, that support takes many forms. From sheltered housing and residential care, to dementia day services, community activities and our charity-run coffee shop, each part of the Trust plays a role in helping people live well, feel connected and remain valued.

Our homes are more than buildings. They are places of familiarity, routine and belonging. Whether someone lives independently in one of our almshouses or is supported within one of our care settings, the focus is the same. To create an environment that feels safe, welcoming and truly like home.

Life, activity and connection

Alongside this, our activities teams, volunteers and community partners work tirelessly to ensure life is full of colour, conversation and purpose. From music and movement to crafts, quizzes, celebrations and quiet moments of reflection, these shared experiences help maintain confidence, memory, and above all, joy.

The people behind the scenes

Behind the scenes, our support teams keep everything running. From catering and housekeeping to maintenance, administration and wellbeing support, every role contributes to the same outcome.

A high standard of care, delivered with kindness, respect and consistency.

Community at the heart of everything

Community is at the heart of what we do. Our coffee shop, No.76, brings together residents, members, families, staff and the wider public in a warm, welcoming space. Our volunteers give their time, skills and compassion. All of our supporters help us continue a tradition of care that has spanned generations.

Supporting people when they need it most

As well as providing homes, care and community services, Gloucester Charities Trust also offers practical help through our Relief in Need Fund. This fund exists to support people in the local area who are facing financial hardship, helping with essential items and urgent costs when there is nowhere else to turn. It is another way the Trust continues its long tradition of care and compassion, ensuring that support reaches people at the moments it matters most.

One purpose, shared by all

Gloucester Charities Trust is not just about providing services. It is about creating places where people feel seen, supported and valued. Places where friendships form, stories are shared and lives continue to have meaning, purpose and connection.

Our places, our people and our purpose are inseparable. Together, they form the foundation of everything we do.

If you, or someone you know, could benefit from our services, or would like to find out more about Gloucester Charities Trust, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are looking for care, housing, activities, community support or simply a friendly place to belong, our team is always happy to help and to talk through the options available.
