The Kimbrose Club is a specialist dementia day service in Gloucester, offering friendship, enjoyable activities and support shaped around each member. We also welcome older people without dementia who would benefit from company and a sense of belonging.

For families and carers, Kimbrose offers time to take a break, with reassurance that their loved one is supported and enjoying opportunities to connect with others.

What we offer

What we do above all else is care for people with dementia and memory loss, providing a safe and stimulating environment where our members get to experience new things, make friends, and have fun.

There is a huge range of activities provided, from gardening and games, to cooking and craft, all set in a secure, fun, friendly and caring environment, with a team who are specially trained to provide quality support for people with dementia. Lots of visitors come into entertain our members, including singers, old time dancers, fitness instructors and college students.

Make Kimbrose part of your routine

Some members enjoy a full day of company and activities, while others prefer a shorter visit, with time for a catch-up and a cooked two-course lunch. Together, we can explore an attendance pattern that suits you.

For many members, being able to have their hair done or see a chiropodist while at Kimbrose is a welcome convenience. A bath or shower can also be arranged by appointment, with support from our team.

What does a typical day look like?

A day at The Kimbrose Club starts with a warm welcome, a cup of tea and a chance to catch up. There’s time to enjoy familiar interests, try something different and spend time with others, with a freshly cooked two-course lunch bringing everyone together.

Our activities reflect the interests and personalities of our members. Depending on the day, you might find:

Quizzes and games, from a friendly quiz to bingo, table skittles or a game of pool.
Creative activities, including arts, crafts and seasonal projects.
Gentle movement, such as yoga and activities that encourage everyone to move at their own pace.
Gardening, with opportunities to tend plants and enjoy time outdoors.
Music and special guests, with visiting entertainers and opportunities to enjoy a singalong.
Themed days and celebrations, bringing something different to club life, from mocktails and jazz to celebrating a member’s birthday.

There’s also plenty of room for the simple pleasures: a good conversation, a shared joke or a quiet cup of tea. Members are encouraged to choose what they enjoy, with support from our team to help them take part. no two days are the same
