Community is not just about where we are. It is about the connections we make
At Kimbrose, we make it a priority to ensure our club members feel connected to the wider local community. One of the ways we do this is by building meaningful relationships with other groups, clubs, and networks. For some time, we have joined the dementia choir at the music academy on Friday mornings and have also taken part in online singing sessions with Mindsong. These opportunities give our members the chance to share music, friendship, and joyful experiences with others, both in person and from home.
These community connections can have a powerful impact. They help our members stay in touch with friends, make new connections, and sometimes even reconnect with family members they may not often see. During one of our online Mindsong sessions, for example, a club member was able to sing alongside her brother in Canada. Moments like this remind us that community can reach far beyond our immediate surroundings and can bring people together in truly special ways.
Intergenerational activities bring warmth, laughter and understanding.
We have also worked closely with local schools, and our club members always enjoy these intergenerational experiences. Children have a wonderful way of bringing warmth, energy, and laughter into the room. Their direct, honest questions often help to break the ice and create natural, meaningful conversations. These visits are enjoyable for everyone involved and help build understanding and connection across generations.
More recently, we have been working with Jamats Academy, which is based just down the road from us. Jamats supports young adults with learning difficulties, and they visit Kimbrose to help with activities and spend time with our club members. They bring fantastic energy, enthusiasm, and a real sense of fun, sometimes with a little mischief too, which always helps create a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
By working with local groups, schools and organisations, we help keep our members connected to the world around them.
Building strong links within our local community gives our club members a greater sense of connection, belonging, and purpose. These relationships enrich daily life, support wellbeing, and create memorable shared experiences. By continuing to work alongside local organisations, schools, and community groups, we can make sure our members remain engaged, valued, and very much part of the world around them.
If you or someone you know could benefit from joining Kimbrose Club, we would be very happy to hear from you. Our friendly team can talk you through what we offer, answer any questions, and help you find out whether Kimbrose could be the right fit.
