This week is dementia awareness week!
Today is all about sport! We appreciate not everyone enjoys sport and exercise , but the benefits are so good we couldn’t help but talk about it 😀
At Kimbrose we ensure we do a little exercise every day, the focus is always on having fun and reminiscing .
We subscribe to sporting memories so we can reminisce with our members about sports they followed or taken part in in the past, we have many ex- tennis players, footballers, rugby plays and racing car drivers amongst our members.
It always good to chat, learning about the things our members enjoy helps us to develop our activities and create meaning joyful moments.
Over a week we fit in exercise in all sorts of forms, from seated aerobics, silent disco and a good old dance, tennis, Taiichi, Pool, and cycling to name but a few. We want our club members to be able to live well for as long as possible!
By doing these activities we are helping to maintain coordination and balance, keep muscles strong and joints flexible and reducing the risk of falls. Exercise also improve sleep quality and energy levels.
Having fun along the way also boosts our members mental wellbeing, and sense of belonging and community.
We are always on the look out for new ideas, so if there is anything you would like us to include, please get in touch.
